Citi has released a start date for its new Costco Anywhere Visa: June 20.
The announcement and other clarifications come about one year after Costco Wholesale Corp. announced it had entered into new agreements with Citi and Visa. Until June 20, you can continue using your Costco Card from American Express.
In February 2015, American Express said that it had to end its exclusive co-branding agreement with Costco because it could not agree to a new deal that made better economic sense.
If you already have a co-branded Costco AmEx card, you do not need to apply for the new Costco Anywhere Visa card, Citi explains.
“In May 2016, Citi will mail it to the basic cardmember or authorized officer’s mailing address provided to Citi,” Citi states. “You can begin using your new card on June 20, 2016. If your address has changed, please call the number on the back of the card to update it.”
And Citi adds that it won’t pull a credit report as part of the account transfer process.
Citi also says that you won’t lose any of the cash back rewards you’ve already earned from your Costco card from American Express.
“Rewards that were not previously distributed to you will be transferred automatically to your new card on June 20, 2016, so you won’t lose any of the rewards,” Citi says.
