The mobile wallet system of the world’s largest retailer known as Walmart Pay is now available for use in all of its 4,600 stores in the United States, including both its signature Supercenters and grocery-focused Neighborhood Markets.
Walmart Pay, which launched last December, has added about 3,500 stores to its Walmart Pay network in just the past three weeks.
Available through the Walmart app, Walmart Pay works with any Apple iOS or Android device at any checkout lane. Any credit, debit, pre-paid or Walmart gift card can be used.
Senior VP of Walmart Services Daniel Eckert told reporters that it’s too early to release data on the number of Walmart Pay users. However, the Walmart app has 20 million active users. He did reveal last week that the use of Walmart Pay was up 45 percent week-over-week and that 88 percent of customers who have tried Walmart Pay at checkout are repeat users.
“There is something very powerful about the ease and simplicity of Walmart Pay,” said Eckert in a news release. “What’s even more powerful though, is what this means for our customers. We want to make every day easier for busy families. We’re connecting all the parts of Walmart into one seamless shopping experience with great stores, easy pickup, fast delivery, frictionless checkout and apps and websites that are simple to use.”
